    Use the scratch board for front nails. For back nails and dewclaws, you guide the included handheld nail file. Introduce gentle paw handling gradually.

  • What size dogs is it designed for?

    The board measures 12 inches (30.5 cm) across. Current TailMates guidance recommends it for medium and large dogs, 25 lb and up. Food motivation and willingness to paw at the board also matter.

  • What surface should I use?

    Place the board on carpet or a rubber-backed mat to help keep it steady. Supervise each session. A mat is not included in the kit.

  • Are replacement surfaces included?

    Yes. The board has one fitted disc plus two spare circular discs. The handheld nail file has a fitted pad plus two spare oval pads. The kit also includes a storage tote and video training.
