QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: What makes PANWA baskets special and unique compared to other plastic hanging planters?
A: Each PANWA basket is handcrafted and emphasizes a natural, non-mass-produced quality, making them truly unique and authentic. Customers prefer these bamboo baskets over plastic planters, as they offer better support for plant growth and a more natural appearance.
Q: Can I use these baskets for orchids?
A: Yes, these baskets are perfect for orchids, especially Phalaenopsis. Many customers love how their orchids thrive in them. They have successfully used these baskets for succulents and other small hanging plants.
Q: Can I repot large orchids in these baskets?
A: Yes, customers with large orchids have had success repotting them in these baskets, with ample space for root growth. The design allows for extensive root growth, especially for plants like orchids that tend to have long roots.
Q: What should I do if the basket has an odor?
A: There is no such thing as bug free grasses and reeds, all reed materials can contain small harmless bugs. For export, we insure there are no harmful chemicals used in sterilizing the reeds, they are placed in a wood fired oven that heats the reeds and sterilizes the material. This process can sometimes leave the basket with a slight campfire like smell. If you experience this, place the basket outdoors and let it air, the wood smoke scent will decline and disappear.
Q: Is the hanging hook sturdy enough to support heavy plants?
A: Yes, the built-in hook is durable and can easily support both orchids and other medium-sized plants.
Q: How do I know this product is authentic Thai handmade?
A: There are a number of products misrepresenting Thailand as the products origin when is’s actually mass produced in a factory outside Thailand. To give you and indication click on the seller's link just below the yellow “Buy Now” button on the right, this is the location of the seller. Products made in Thailand are generally (but not always) shipped from Thailand, not through another country. Woven products from Thailand are almost always hand made in villages, for this reason you will see small variations in the way they are made, no two individuals make things exactly alike.

- 🌱 TOTALLY UNIQUE: Handcrafted in the Northeastern villages of Thailand, these style of hanging baskets are beautifully designed for both form and function. The dark natural wood color is created from soaking the reeds and allowing them to dry. This time honored process is essential as it naturally finishes the baskets appearance.
- 🌱 SKILLFULLY CRAFTED: Thai orchids are world renown and this “Siam style” basket has been used for ages as the best way to nurture draping floras. As these baskets are dried a faint hint of the charred scent is innate to the fabricated cane sedge.
- 🌱 HAND WOVEN: Individually handcrafted and designed to endure daily use, these multi-functional plant hangers adorn the garden walls and entrance ways to many Thai Temple gardens and are functionally designed to allow water to drain even if drenched in a monsoon rain. The metal hanger will fade to an oxidized patina over time that will also match the color of the dark reeds.
- 🌱 BASKET SIZE: Container radius at widest point is 4 inches and the length is approximately 14 inches top to bottom (reeds vary slightly, as they are not mass produced) not including the metal hanging hook, which can be adjusted. These are ideal for smaller plants, orchids, vines, floras, cuttings that can be directed rooted in the soil or with a 3 inch diameter plant pot
- 🌱 EASY CARE, SIMPLE TO CLEAN: Rinse with water and these beautiful decor baskets are quick to air dry in the sunlight. Please note that; as these handmade hanging baskets are individually constructed, there may be slight variations in color shade and/or may contain common blemishes that occur naturally during each rendition of the drying process.
